Wickenburg Funeral Home & Crematory Wickenburg, Arizona December 11, 1940 - June 28, 2010 Siri E. James, passed away June 28, 2010 at her home in Wickenburg. Siri was born December 11, 1940 in New York, NY to John Andrew James and Siri Peterson James. She was raised in Grass Lake, Michigan and later graduated from Michigan State where she earned a Bachelors degree majoring in English. She began working in Chicago, Illinois with the State Welfare Dept. later moving to Arizona in the early 1970’s. She settled in Phoenix and worked as a vocational rehabilitation counselor with the State of Arizona. She was active in the Valley Big Sisters and also participated in the A.S.U. Choir. Siri came to Wickenburg in 1994 and immediately became involved in the community. She was very talented playing the violin, clarinet, piano and the harp. She enjoyed traveling, music, photography and was an avid reader. Siri's life in Wickenburg was marked by extraordinary service contributing to the welfare and joy of many. She was involved with the Wickenburg Community Services Corp. and the Democratic Party, volunteered at the Del Webb Theatre, and was a member of the Art Club, the Wickenburg Cultural Organization (WCO), the Wickenburg Historical Preservation Society, and Friends of Music, Business and Professional Women of Wickenburg. In addition, she monitored the emergency phone line for LifeAlert, was on the Board of the Library, the Community Chorus, Las Senoras (the women's auxiliary of the Desert Caballeros Western Museum), and President of the Advisory Committee to R & R Respite. Donations in her name to any of the organizations she loved and supported would do her honor. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.
