Calvin Carl Harnetiaux, 80, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2009, in Lake Havasu City. Cal, as he was known by his family and friends, was born on November 18, 1928 in Greenville, Ill. to Alma and Mabel (Pierson) Harnetiaux.
Cal grew up in Arcadia, Calif. He enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. Cal spent most of his working life in the paint industry and related construction. He was paint superintendent at Disneyland up until his retirement.
After many years of visiting the beautiful blue waters of Lake Havasu, retirement beckoned him once again to Lake Havasu City, becoming their new home in 1991. In retirement, he enjoyed boating, fishing and off-roading. Cal was also a member of the Elks, Knights of Columbus and Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church.
Cal is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Nancy of Lake Havasu City; daughter, Mary Schaper and husband David, Henderson, Nev.; sons, Michael Harnetiaux and wife Marilyn, Mission Viejo, Calif.; Jeffrey Harnetiaux and wife Karen, Maui, Hi.; James Harnetiaux and wife Adrienne, Alta Loma, Calif.; Joseph Harnetiaux and wife Rhonda, Orange, Calif.; sister, Lucille Ulmer-Platt, San Pedro, Calif.; as well as 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
A Rosary will be said at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church on Monday at 10:30 a.m. and a Memorial Mass will follow at 11 a.m. with Father Mike Ashibuogwu offering words of comfort and inspiration.
In lieu of flowers, his family has requested that donations can be made in Cal’s name to Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, 1975 Daytona Ave. Lake Havasu City, AZ; 86403.
