NEATHERY, William John


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Monday, April 13, 2009 William John Neathery, 94, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2009, at his home in Lake Havasu City. Bill, as he was known by his friends and family, was born on Sept. 15, 1914, in Arkadelphia, Ark., to Titus and Ida (Hammond) Neathery. Following graduation from high school, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy, beginning a career that would span 23 years. Bill traveled the world while in the Navy and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. Bill then went to work for Morrison Knudson as an overseas camp manager. He moved to Lake Havasu City 14 years ago from Anaheim, Calif. Bill is survived by his wife of 10 years, Margaret Neathery, of Lake Havasu City; stepson, Greg (Lori) Bachmann, of Parker; grandchildren, Sean Miller, Kris Bachmann and Ashley Bachmann. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha; son, William Neel and daughter, Sheila Neathery. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Rounds officiating. Graveside services will be held on Friday, 1:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Cypress, Calif. Military honors will be provided by United States Navy Honor Guard.
