CREASON, John Ward

Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Friday, April 10, 2009 John Ward Creason passed away Monday, March 16, 2009, at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas, after a short illness. John was born July 10, 1955, in San Francisco, to James and Patricia Creason and grew up in Kansas City, Mo., until moving to Lake Havasu City in 1969. John enjoyed those “pioneer days" of Lake Havasu, boating and skiing as many days as possible. John married Kelly Creason in September 1981. They honeymooned at the Hotel Del Coronado on Coronado Island. They delayed having children so they could enjoy early married life and establish a firm foundation of love. In 1987, their son, James D. Creason II, was born. James became big brother to Matthew Neal Creason, born in 1994. John adored his sons, and made sure he was active in their lives. He first coached James' soccer team for several years, and when Matthew was old enough to play, coached his soccer team as well. When Matthew decided to switch to baseball, he became actively involved in that as well. He was ecstatic when Matthew was chosen to be on the Lake Havasu High School freshman baseball team. John was always very vocal in the stands, learning all the players’ names and shouting encouragement to every one of them as they came up to bat. John was very proud of James' admission to Northern Arizona University, and recently enjoyed going shooting with James when he was home from NAU. John will be remembered by his loving wife for his compassion and sense of humor. Wherever John went, laughter always followed. There was never a dull or boring day with John. John is survived by his soul mate, Kelly; their sons, James and Matthew; his mother, Patricia Creason; father, Jim Creason; brother, Keven Creason; and sister, Jami (Doug) Lawslo; nieces, Dallas Lawslo, Deanna and Erin Anderson, KC Creason; and nephews, Jakob and Ryan Anderson. John's family invites everyone to a memorial to celebrate John's life and laughter to be held March 28 at 2 p.m., at Community Presbyterian Church, 3450 Chemehuevi Blvd. In lieu of flowers, friends of John and Kelly have opened an account for James and Matthew's future education and sporting needs. Memorial contributions can be made at any Wells Fargo Bank to account number 8403834917.
