Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Friday, April 10, 2009 Charles Matthew Laurence, 79, passed away March 21, 2009. Chuck, as he was known to his family and friends, was born Nov. 12, 1929, in New Orleans, La. Chuck proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and following his military service, went to work as an electrician. Chuck enjoyed many outdoor activities; among those were golfing, boating, scuba diving and motorcycling. He also enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino for gambling. Chuck was a member of the American Legion Post 81, Eagles Aerie 4299 and Elks Lodge 2399. Chuck and his wife, Lorraine, moved to Lake Havasu City in 2000 from Sonoma, Calif. Chuck is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lorri; sons, Robert “Bob” (Terri) Laurence, of Natick, Mass., and Marc Laurence, of Sonoma, Caliph; grandchildren, Chris, Mike and Preston Laurence. Scripture services will be held Wednesday, at 2 p.m. at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home, followed by military honors performed by the Marine Corps League Lake Havasu Detachment. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Chuck’s name to Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405, or to a charity of your choice.
