Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Friday, February 13, 2009 Orville DeWayne Melchi, 81, passed away Friday, February 6, 2009, in Lake Havasu City. He was born May 15, 1927, in Grabil, Ind., to Earl and Normandy (Smith) Melchi. Orville proudly served in the United States Army from Dec. 21, 1945 -June 16, 1947. Following his discharge from the military, Orville returned to Indiana and worked as a machinist for Zollner Corp. in Ft. Wayne, Ind., for 20 years. He moved to Lake Havasu City 26 years ago from Ft. Wayne along with his wife Grace. Orville is survived by his son; Gary Melchi, of Angola, Ind.; daughter, Becky (Steve) Kinder, of Broomfield, Colo.; brother, Robert (Patricia) Melchi, of Spencerville, Ind; sisters, Betty Marshell and Mary Melchi, both of Ft. Wayne, Ind; grandchildren, Jacob, Nick, Emily, Lindsey; and great grandchildren, Ashton, Leif, Samuel and Elizabeth. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace, who passed away Feb. 24, 2003. Military Honors will be held for Orville at the V.F.W. Post 9401, 266 London Bridge Rd. today at 2 p.m. Members of the V.F.W. Honor Guard and the American Legion Honor Guard will conduct the service.
