Margaret Swinston Kittle 96, of Tucson, Arizona died March 7, 2009 in Tucson. She was born March 2, 1913, Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania to George and Daisy Lalime Swinston, was raised in Pittsburgh, PA and attended Sullins College in Bristol, VA.
Married to Benjamin McLain in Pittsburgh, PA in 1935 and to John S. (Jack) Kittle in Tucson in 1966. A resident of Tucson since 1947, she was active in St. Phillips in the Hills Episcopal Church, where she was a longtime member and Director of the Alter Guild and member of the Vestry. She was a Member of the Tucson Assistance League and several community service organizations. She was a long time Realtor with Tucson Realty and Trust Co. Margaret was steadfast in insisting that her boys care for each other and attain an education, working hard to provide a loving family environment in spite of rigorous work as a real estate agent. Generous of heart, she was a steadfast friend to many. She is survived by sons, Will McLain (Lois) of Phoenix and George McLain (Georgi) of Lafayette, CA; stepson, Jay Kittle (Barbara) of Tucson; stepdaughter, Emily Morrison (Ted) of Tucson; grandchildren, Matthew McLain (Helen) Phoenix; Jeffrey McLain (Anne) Lodi, CA; Missy Hunter (Mitch) Walnut Creek, CA; Erin Thomas (Jeff) Ft. Collins, CO; Michael McLain Phoenix and six great-grandchildren, Regan Thomas, Lainy Hunter, Katie McLain, Eliana Thomas, Sarah McLain, Colin Hunter. She is predeceased by husband, Benjamin McLain; husband, John S. (Jack) Kittle; brothers, George Swinston Jr. and Robert Swinston; son, Deacon Benjamin McLain. The family thanks Barbara Kittle, the daughter Margaret never had, for her generous and loving attention.
Memorial Service 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2009 at St Phillips in the Hills Episcopal Church with reception to follow in the Church's West Gallery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Casa de la Luz hospice, 400 West Magee Road, Tucson, Arizona 85704.
