James Read Guy died on March 19, 2007 in Tucson, AZ following a stroke in 2004.
Born May 21, 1916 in East Cleveland, OH to Glen Ezekiel and Jesse Read Guy, he followed in his father's footsteps and became an Electrical Engineer, earning his Engineering Degree and Masters from Case Western Reserve University. Mr. Guy served in the Signal Corps attached to the Army, serving later as Captain in a radar company in North Africa, Sardinia and Italy. They were on their way to Okinawa when Japan surrendered. Jim worked for the Cleveland Electric Iluminating Co. in Cleveland, OH retiring in 1976 after 40 years. During that time he was active in The Ohio Society of Professional Engineers, serving as its president for one term. Happily he retired to Tucson, AZ with Elizabeth, wife of nearly 60 years.
Jim leaves his wife, Elizabeth; brother, Glen Guy; sister-in-law, Virginia of Tucson; sister-in-law, Grace Guy of Denver; three children, Jeffrey Guy of Southlake, TX, Robert Guy of Alexandria, VA, and Marcia Blankenhorn of San Antonio, TX; three grandchildren, Lauren, Emily and Matthew, all of TX; nephew, Charles Guy of Tucson; and niece, Suzanne Tingley of Mt. Vernon, OH.
A memorial service will be held on March 23, 2007 at Handmaker Long Term Care Facility 2221 N. Rosemont Blvd., Tucson, 85712. The family would like to thank the staff at Handmaker for their dedicated and personal care of Jim during the last three years.
Arrangements by Hudgel's Swan. Internment will be at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Columbarium. The family suggests contributions in memory of James Guy to The American Stroke Association, 5325 E. Pima St., Tucson, AZ or to a charity of their choice.
