Richard F. Rollman, 86, passed away February 4, 2006. Dick was born in St. Louis, MO on August 21, 1919.
He received his BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University. In 1941 he joined MIT Radiation Laboratory where he participated in the development of radar in support of the war effort. After the war he was employed by DuMont Laboratories, and until 1955 was involved in the engineering and development of television technology. In 1949 he founded the Reliability Society of IEEE and served as President from 1950-1952. He was also the Chairman of the Institute of Radio Engineers Professional Group on Quality Control from 1949-1952. From 1955 through the remainder of his career he worked for Bell Telephone Laboratories on transmission stability over broadband integrated networks. Upon retiring in 1981 he and his wife moved to Tucson. He was a volunteer at TMC for 18 years and an active member of Northminster Presbyterian Church for almost 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Menta Murray Rollman; children Richard M. (Elizabeth), Wendy (Lon) Foltman; grandchildren, Mike (Kim), Dan (Laura), and Carrie; and great-grandchildren Brittney and Kailee.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Building Fund. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at 300 p.m. at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 7650 N. Paseo Del Norte. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, AVALON CHAPEL.
