STROBEL, Esther May W.


The Arizona Daily Star, June 17, 2007 Esther May Strobel, 77, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2007, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ron; children, Linda and Jeff; cousin, Mary. Preceded in death in 1994 by special friend, Esther Karkau "Grandma K". Born in the Cleveland, OH area Esther lived there until moving to Tucson in 1995. After raising her children, Esther returned to the workforce where she spent 23 years at Picker Corporation as a tax specialist. Esther was an avid golfer and bridge player, as well as a daily worker of the crossword puzzle. She was a member of both Tanglewood Country Club in Chagrin Falls, OH and El Conquistador Country Club in Tucson. Additionally she played in many couples and women's bridge groups. She was very active in volunteer work in various capacities with the home owners associations in both Tanglewood and Carmel Pointe. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 23rd at 1200 noon at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 7650 N. Paseo del Norte, Tucson. In lieu of flowers, Esther requested that donations be made to your cancer foundation of choice. In addition to the memorial service, there will be a "celebration of life reception" at El Burrito Restaurant at 600 p.m. Saturday, June 23rd (Lambert and La Canada).
