FREESE,
Henry S.
The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ 06/30/2006
Henry S. Freese, 89 of Show Low, took the journey to meet God, departed family members and the heavenly hosts June 25, 2006 at Hospice of the Valley, Eckstein, in Scottsdale.
Henry was the eighth child born to Joseph C. and Rita Sigala Freese May 2, 1917. Those fortunate to meet Henry were treated to his charismatic wit and solid personality. Dad lived by the premise to do the best you can with what you've got. He never allowed setbacks to defeat him. Today, God receives a champion! Henry grew up in Superior, Arizona, where he toiled as a miner. He also worked for Whalley Electric and numerous valley floor-covering companies before moving to Show Low.
He and his late wife, Alice, owned and operated Freese Floors until they retired in 1982. Dad also served as president of the Show Low Little League. He enjoyed all life had to offer, teaching his children the values of faith, life and family.
He is survived by one sister, Rita Belgardt; two sons, Robert (Diana) and Michael (Betty), and one daughter, Mary (Bob) Gammon. Also surviving the family patriarch are his grandchildren: Daniel, Thomas, Wendy, Robert, Becky, Amy, Robbie, Bonni, Maggie, Matthew, Madison, Haleigh, Hannah, Melissa, Scott, and Raylene, along with several great-grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters. These are the gifts of a long life.
Henry was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Alice; son H. Daniel; his parents; four brothers, George, Albert, Joseph, and Frank; three sisters, Annie, Celia, and Jesse; two grandchildren, Jeannine and J.D.; and one great-grandson, Matthew.
Rosary will be held Thursday, June 29 at 6 p.m. at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Show Low with a Celebration of Henry's Life to be conducted Friday, June 30 at 10 a.m., also at St. Rita's. Internment will be at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Phoenix, alongside his precious Alice.
In lieu of flowers the family asks to consider donations to one of the following: Hospice of the Valley, the Alzheimer's Association, or the American Cancer Society.
Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
