The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 07/07/2006 Kathleen "Kay" A. Carpenter, 78, died at her home June 24, 2006 in Lakeside with her family at her side. She survived pancreatic (op) cancer (Whipple) three years ago and succumbed to liver cancer. She was born in Buffalo, N.Y. to Nickolas and Alma Rouh. She met and married Charles L. Carpenter and they had four children. They moved to Conoga Park, Calif. in 1965, Flagstaff in 1989, and then settling in Lakeside in 1997. She loved gardening, crossword puzzles and once in a while a nip of blackberry brandy. She was preceded in death by in death by her husband, Charles L. Carpenter; Alma Rouh (Marquette and stepfather Jack Marquette). She is survived by daughter, Charleen Carpenter of Lakeside; sons, Chas (Polly) Carpenter of Bridgeville, Calif., Cory (Sue) Carpenter of Valencia, Calif. and Cort (Tisa) Carpenter of Pinetop, her best friend and beloved brother, Duke (Jon) Rouh of Show Low; cousin, Jane (Ed) Armstrong of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Cori (Ken) Brito, Adrian Carpenter, Nicole Carpenter, Kyle Carpenter; step-grandchild, Kala Cowden; her first great grand-daughter, Lauren and her family dog, Molly. No services are planned at this time.
