ARMSTRONG, Roy Lee

Roy Lee Armstrong, July 8, 1930 - June 26, 2010. Survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Roy passed away after a long hard fight, to be with our Lord during the evening of the 26th of June, 2010. He is reunited at last with his parents; his nephew, Max; his former wife, Dorothy Armstrong "Dottie"; and childhood sweetheart, Lois Watts "Ione", who preceded him in death. Born in rural Indiana during the Great Depression, he learned at a very early age the value of hard work and responsibility. Upon graduating from high school, he joined the military, serving first in the Army, then the Air Force, and finishing his military career with the Air National Guard. He served during the Korean War Conflict, and was extremely proud of his 30+ years of service to this country. He was a long time member of the VFW and the Edward W. Rhoads Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association. He was actively involved in the creation and dedication of the Korean War Memorial located on Ajo Way in Tucson, AZ. Roy is survived by his sister, Doris; four children, Dan, Jerry, Julie and Owen; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his former wife, Durelle. A Celebration of life service will be held on the most patriotic day of the year, this Sunday, the 4th of July, 2010. at the Pima Air & Space Museum, 6000 E. Valencia Rd., Tucson at 3:30 p.m., with a graveside service immediately following at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S. Park Ave., Tucson. Military honors provided by Davis Monthan Base Honor Guard.
