Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg Arizona October 30, 1980 Miss LaWanda Ann Leonard died on Oct. 13, 1980, after a recent illness, in a Phoenix Hospital. She is survived by her mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. C.A. McDaniel, Willow, Oklahoma; her grandmother, Mrs. Leonna Dowdy, Lubbock, Texas; and a brother, Charles Leonard, New Orleans, Louisiana. Her immediate family was with her at time of her death. A memorial services was held at the Wickenburg Funeral Home, Oct. 14, 1980, with Rev. Roy Muncy pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Jester Cemetery, Jester, Oklahoma, Oct. 17, 1980. LaWanda had been a resident of Wickenburg for the past five years, where she was employed as a substitute teacher and a waitress. She was a graduate of Southwestern State University, Wetherford, Okalahoma, and taught in Texas thirteen years before moving to Arizona.
