Margaret Ann Sitton Marge Sitton passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, June 28, 2010 at Serenity House Hospice Home in Tucson, Arizona.
Born in Lorain, Ohio on August 28, 1923 to Sophia and Andrew Pasternak, she was the last surviving sibling of eight brothers and sisters. She moved to Los Angeles after high school where she would meet her husband, Herschel V. Sitton. They were married for 40 years until his death in July of 1988. Together they managed a successful restaurant business on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood until they built Sitton's Restaurant in North Hollywood in 1960. Sitton's Restaurant was a legendary eatery to Hollywood stars and local families alike. Both Hersh and Marge were extremely active in the Los Feliz Lions and Lionette's Club for over thirty years. Marge moved to Tucson in 1994 to be close to her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Margie Sitton Handel of San Diego; her son, William David Sitton; and two granddaughters, Olivia and Elizabeth Blakeney of Tucson. Everyone in Tucson affectionately called her "Babka." Funeral Services to celebrate her extraordinary life will be held in Tucson and in North Hollywood.
On Tuesday, July 6, 2010, visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 215 S. Craycroft Road. A Funeral Mass will follow on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the same church.
On Friday, July 9, 2010 a memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Noon at the Old North Church at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles followed by burial next to her husband.
In lieu of flowers her family wishes that donations be sent to the University of Arizona Cancer Center. Checks should be made out to "UAF – Arizona Cancer Center to the attention of the Sitton Backer Endowment at 1515 N. Campbell Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85724 attn: Sabrina Gonzalez.
