Armand David Maio, died peacefully July 13, 2006 at the Sherman Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix following a difficult, valiant seven-month battle with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.
Dave was born Aug. 23, 1933 in Trinidad, Colo., to Armand and Vera Maio. He was a gradate of the United States Naval Academy, earned a masters degree in Meteorology at the University of Washington, masters degree in Physics at the University of Michigan, and a PhD in Physics at the University of Arizona. Dr. Maio was a retired United States Air Force Colonel and Physical Science Administrator at New Mexico State University. Dave was a man of humility, wit, intelligence and integrity. His beautiful gardens prepared by loving hands were admired by all. Farewell dear Dave. Fair winds and calming seas.
Grateful to have shared his life and honoring his memory is his wife, Carolyn of 50 years; sons, Keith (Vicki), Stephen (Vivian); sister, Dona; grandchildren: Collin, David, Leah, Allison, Addie, Jenna, Gianna, Aaron, Jesse; sister-in-law, Lorraine; niece, Kristen; nephew, Michael; the McKee family; his faithful hiking friends and sheltie, Missy.
A memorial mass was held at St. Mary's of the Angels in Pinetop, July 17.
