LOMAHAPTEWA, Leighton Xac

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 08/08/2006 Leighton Xac Lomahaptewa died tragically in a car accident July 15, 2006 in Taylor. Xac (as known to by many) was born July 24, 1986 in Phoenix. He was a loving son, grandson, nephew, brother and loved all his friends just the same. He was a 2004 graduate of Show Low High School. He enjoyed life and loved to be around family and friends, he enjoyed making music with his brothers. Playing basketball was his favorite time to relax and just be with friends. It was never boring when Xac was around, he was the "life" of the party. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his parents, Farren and Vera Lomahaptewa; sisters Amber Lomahaptewa, Valene Lomahaptewa; brothers Logan S. Lomahaptewa and nephew, Anthony Ruiz; maternal grandmother, Ada Lomawaima; paternal grandmother, Noreen Lomahaptewa; as well as aunts, Georgia Lomawaima (Anthony) Kiercey, Isiah, Lauren Williams, Kirstin Lomawaima (Duane) Ashley, April Yongosona, Erin Lacapa; uncles, George S. Lomawaima Jr. (Barbara) Bobby, Johnathen, AJ Lomawaima, Derek E. Lomawaima and Recca Lomawaima, and many, many more aunts, uncles and cousins. His paternal grandfather, Lorin V. Lomahaptewa; and Maternal grandfather George S. Lomawaima Sr. preceded him in death. A traditional funeral service was held July 18 on the Hopi Reservation at Mishongnovi Village where he was laid to rest.
