JONES,
Donald Lee
The Arizona Daily Star, Tucson- April 17, 2005
November 17, 1928 - April 11, 2005 On April 11, 2005 Donald Lee Jones left this earthly existence for the peace assured to him through his faith. Mourning this enormous loss are his wife of 49 years, JoAnne; his sons, Terry, Brian, and Bruce; his daughter, Julie; his sisters, Anna and Helen; his daughters-in-law, Linda, Laura and Cindy; his granddaughters, Delaina, Corey and Kimby; his grandsons, Jacob, Russell, Brian, James and Daniel; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; eight greatgrandchildren, as well as countless nephews, nieces and golfing buddies. Pop, while we live with this strange absence of you, we know you were greeted in the Kingdom by your cherished mother Lillian, your father Harvey, brothers Doug, Bobbie and Eddie Jim, sister Margie and our family dogs Ginger and Christmas. But first to greet you was Christ.
Don was born in Winner, S. Dakota, but he grew up in the beauty of the Black Hills of South Dakota where he roamed free to fish, hunt and explore. This independence of his youth carried him throughout his life as he saw beauty in nature and heard God in the silence of His work. He joined the Navy in January of 1951, married JoAnne Samson in 1956, and shortly thereafter completed his degree at Wahpeton State School of Science. The newlyweds moved to Tucson in 1957.
In Tucson, he has worked as an air conditioning engineer estimator for Rightway, Aztec and Atlantas. Don was devoted to his children and adored his wife throughout his life. Now, we want to thank him for teaching us peace and tolerance, for emphasizing the strength of forgiveness. We miss you Pop, but our blessings out distance our pain. Go in peace and rest well knowing that we are - as you would have us to be - strong, together and celebrating the very core of our family's love - you.
A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, April 18th at 200 p.m. in the Chapel at Catalina United Methodist Church, 2700 E. Speedway. The family welcomes all of Don's friends to join us. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 1332 N. Halsted Street, Chicago, IL. 60622 in Donald's memory. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel, Tucson, AZ.
