Richard William Gleason, age 44, of Iowa City, Iowa, died Friday, March 7, 2008, in the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at University of Iowa Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 10, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 570 Dublin Drive, Iowa City, IA 52246.
Burial will be at the Binghampton Cemetery in Tucson, Ariz.
Friends may call Sunday, March 9, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society for Hope Lodge at UIHC or for the Perpetual Education Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Rick was born on June 18, 1963, at Offut Air Force Base in Nebraska, the son of William J. and Irene Baker Gleason.
He was a graduate of Brigham Young University, where he majored in civil engineering. On April 27, 1993, Rick married Cristi Butler in Mesa, Ariz. Rick, Cristi and their children moved to Iowa City in 2003. He was a loving husband, father, son and brother.
Rick is survived by his wife, Cristi and their three children, Annie, William and Kate, all of Iowa City; his mother, Irene of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; seven siblings, Steve (Diana) Gleason of Casper, Wyo., Dan (Kelly) Gleason, Diane Gleason and Sue Gleason, all of Salt Lake City, Donna Gleason of Tucson, Christy Gleason and Stacey (Tim) Tobik, both of Ft. Walton Beach.
He was preceded in death by his father.
