NEWMAN, Kenneth Wayne


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 08/18/2006 Kenneth Wayne Newman, 91 of Lakeside, died at RTA Hospice in Lakeside Aug. 13, 2006. He was born in Phoenix, he grew up in Glendale and attended Phoenix Union High School. Following high school he went to work as a truck driver for Calhoun Brothers in Phoenix. In 1938 he met Anne L. McBrayer and they were married on Dec. 8, 1940 in Las Vegas. Following their marriage, he served in the Army during WWII. Following the war they made their home in Phoenix and Ken continued to work as a truck driver. He later went to work for Petrolane Gas Company and eventually became a plant manager for them. He managed numerous plants around the state until his retirement in 1976. He and his wife moved to Lakeside in 1978. Ken enjoyed working on cars and did that in his spare time for recreation. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Anne L. Newman of Lakeside; daughter, Beverly Kirkland of Surprise; son, Bill Lewis of Lakeside; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great, great-grandchild. There are no services scheduled.
