KLEPPINGER, Florence Mary (Flossie)

(Maiden Name: Zehner)

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 08/25/2006 Florence Mary Zehner Kleppinger Florence (Flossie) Zehner Kleppinger left us to join her mother, father, and husband, Bill, Aug. 21, 2006 at the Carriage House in Snowflake. Her life was truly an example of love and caring - both professionally and personally. She was born in the small coal-mining town of Tamaqua, Penn. in 1913. She left in 1931 to enter nurses' training in Philadelphia. Throughout her life, she took care of family members and friends, whether they were sick, having babies, or just needed her. She was the kind of mother one only reads about or wishes for - guiding not directing, loving and funny - setting an example for her children and everyone who knew her. Her marriage to Bill lasted 55 years and ended with his death in 1990 in Sun Lakes, where they had bought a retirement home in 1976. She leaves a legacy of caring and love to her two children: Gail Alwine of Show Low and Bill Jr. of Newtown, Penn. Two much-loved granddaughters, Elizabeth Alwine Phoenix and Alicia Kleppinger of Newton, also survive her. A memorial service honoring her life will take place Sept. 20 at the Church of Our Savior in Lakeside at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Carriage House in Snowflake or the White Mountain Humane Society will honor her memory. The Lord watch between me and thee while we are absent one from another. Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
