Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Tuesday, January 20, 2009 Matthew “Matt” F. Gandy, 36, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, in Lake Havasu City. He was born Feb. 28, 1972, in Arnold, Mo. Matt moved to Lake Havasu City in 1980 with his family from Arnold, Mo. He returned to Lake Havasu City three years ago after residing in Costa Mesa, Calif., since 2000, working as an independent contractor in window designs. Matt, first and foremost, loved his daughter, Ashlee, with his entire soul. His love for his family and friends was always unconditional. Matt would flash his beautiful smile at you every time he saw you and his huge heart was always worn on his sleeve. His witty sense of humor would send you into a hysterical laugh and that just encouraged him to carry on the good times. Matt appreciated his traveling experiences and especially cherished his Mexico getaways. He loved boating, wakeboarding, snowboarding, and found peace on the beaches of SoCal. His life was a burning flame that brought joy to all of the lives he touched. Matt is survived by his daughter, Ashlee Pipins and her mother Sherri Thayer, of Lake Havasu City; parents, David Gandy Sr., of Brighton, Mich. and Darlene Brown, of Arnold, Mo.; brother, David (Lori) Gandy, Jr., of Elizabethtown, Ken., Mike (Stephanie) Gandy (twin brother), of Lake Havasu City; nephew, Jarron Gandy, of Lake Havasu City; nieces, Shayne Gandy, of Lake Havasu City, Courtney and Casey Gandy, both of Elizabeth, Ken.; grandmother, Bernice DeLarber, of Lake Havasu City; grandparents; Francis and Mary Ellen Gandy, of Lonedell, Mo.; ex-wife, Jennifer Todd, of Westminster, Calif.; and mother-in-law, Dora Todd, of Lakewood, Calif. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Mathew DeLarber. Matt Gandy’s Friends and Family Social-Memorial will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the HEAT hotel patio bar (Island side of the bridge, left hand side, across the street from Shugrue’s.) Due to Matt’s sense of style, we encourage you to wear your best hat for Matt.
