April Lynn McClellan, 35, passed away Dec. 26, 2008, in Desert Center, Calif. She was born Aug. 11, 1973, in Garden Grove, Calif., to Dyrck C. and Teri L. (Story) McClellan.
April moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ; two years ago from Alhambra, Calif. From 1995-1997, April was a graduate of Academy of Broadcasting in California. She was an on air DJ at Groove Radio, Santa Monica, Calif., and sales assistant and on air personality and host for specialty mixed programs. From 1997-1999, April worked for Green Galactic/Communications – publisher for DJ Talent and electronic musicians. She scheduled and organized press days for interviews in the US and UK; and traveled extensively around Europe with her job. From 1999 – 2002, April was a promotional director, on air, full time personality talent broker. From 2002 – 2005, April worked for CMH. Records as promotional director and she also cross-checked records for Urban Records. From 2005 – 2008, April supervised educational programs and taught her beloved niece, Dakota Skye Mason and nephew, Wyatt Austin Mason.
April is survived by her father, Dyrck Charles McClellan, of Anaheim Hills, Calif.; mother, Teri Lynn MCClellan, of Lake Havasu City; brother, Robert (Bob) (Tracy) McClellan, of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister, Suzanne Mason, of Lake Havasu City; nieces, Dakota Skye Mason, Amanda Bookout, Laura Bookout; nephew, Wyatt Austin Mason and best friend, her blood hound, Betsy.
A Memorial Service and Celebrations of Life will be held at Shugrue’s Restaurant in the Banquet Room Saturday at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, or other donations, the family is requesting donations to be made to the “April Lynn McClellan Memorial Trust Fund”. A trust fund has been established to provide for the educational needs of April’s niece and nephew, Dakota Skye Mason and Wyatt Austin Mason, son and daughter of April’s sister, Suzanne Mason.
April had no enemies, She was loved by all who knew her.
