Nathan Haines Mannakee, Jr. died March 15 at his home in Wickenburg.
Mr. Mannakee was born December 23, 1910 in Bluefield, W.VA. He had lived in Arizona for the past year and one-half.
Mr. Mannakee attended Augusta Military Academy and Virginia Polytechnic Institute, graduating from VPI with a degree in mining engineering.
He worked in Butte, Montana for the Anaconda Company and later worked with George R. Powe prospecting in Wyoming and Arizona in 1938-1939.
He returned to Butte in 1940, and was in the Army Corps of Engineers in Panama.
He married Lois Genevieve Brown, who preceded him in death, in 1942 in Washington, DC.
While working in Washington he was diagnosed with juvenile muscular degeneration of the retina, causing him to lose most of his eyesight.
Mr. Mannakee returned to Montana in 1950 with his family and began farming. In 1959 he started the Mannakee Seed Co., a seed-cleaning operation specializing in certified seeds and grass seed.
He retired to Escondido, California with his wife in 1968. He came to Wickenburg in late 1989 and was involved in gold mining at the time of his death.
Survivors include his son, Dale Mannakee, an attorney in Tacoma, Washington and a daughter, Gray Mannakee Johnson, of Great Falls, Montana.
Private disposition was conducted.
