Carol was born May 1, 1938 in Albany, New York to George Clark VanOrnam and Marian Helen Heitzman VanOrnam. She was raised and attended schools there graduating from Albany High School in 1957. After her schooling she began working in banking and later married James R. Crinan. He served in the Army and being a military wife Carol lived in various locations throughout the U.S. She moved to Phoenix in 1986 and met Tony Tyler and they began their life together residing in Scottsdale moving to Wickenburg in 2001. She and Tony volunteered at the Wise Owl and she had also worked at Double D Western Wear for a time. Carol and Tony are members of St. Anthony's Catholic Church had be active working with St. Vincent de Paul Society distributing food items. Carol enjoyed the desert and she and Tony belonged to a Sandrail club and had traveled most all of Arizona off-road. She also loved to travel in their motorhome and had traveled most of the western United States and Mexico. One of things in life that Carol truly enjoyed was her grandchildren. She is survived by her significant other, Tony Tyler of Wickenburg, children James C. Crinan (Liese) of Tucson, Christine D. Oliver (David) of Gilbert, brother William VanOrnam (Teddy) of California, sisters Joan Carolus (Walter) of Ocean Isle, NC, Gail Swift (Mike) of Albany, NY, and grandchildren: Nickolas, Michael, Marcus, and Hannah Oliver Joshua Crinan, Janelle (Ernesto) Justin and Jared Crinan and 1 greatgrandchild Jasmine. She was raised and attended schools there, graduating from Albany High School in 1957. After her schooling she began working in banking and later married James R. Crinan who served in the Army. As a military wife Carol lived in various locations throughout the United States. She and her family, Ltc. James R. Crinan, James C. and Christine D., lived in Maryland, Kansas, Arizona, California, Alabama, and Utah. Carol cared for her husband, children, and home with much diligence and love. In 1985 she relocated to Phoenix, met Tony Tyler in 1986, and resided in Scottsdale, moving to Wickenburg in 2001. She volunteered at the Wise Owl and worked in the Wickenburg area, specifically at Double D Western Wear for a time. Carol was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and had been active working with St. Vincent de Paul Society, distributing food items. Carol enjoyed the desert. She belonged to The Roamers, a sand-rail club, and had traveled much of Arizona off-road with Tony. She also loved to travel in their motor home and had traveled most of the western United States and Mexico. Carol truly enjoyed and loved her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She is survived by Tony Tyler of Wickenburg; children James C. Crinan (Liese) of Tucson, Christine D. Oliver (David) of Gilbert; brother William Van Ornam (Teddy) of California; sisters Joan Carolus (Walter) of Ocean Isle, N.C.; Gail Swift (Mike) of Albany, N.Y.; and grandchildren Nickolas, Michael, Marcus, Hannah Oliver, Janelle (Ernesto), Justin, and Jared Crinan; and one great-grandchild Jasmine. The family has suggested memorial contributions in memory of Carol be offered to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014. Memorial services were held on Tuesday, July 13 at 1 p.m. at Wickenburg Funeral Home with Fr. Alvin Cayetano as celebrant.
