Roderick Edmund (Bud) Billingsley, a native Arizonan born on Aug. 15, 1917 to Kester (Ketch) and Genevieve Billingsley, passed away on April 14, 2010 at age 92.
Bud attended both Arizona State Teacher’s College at Tempe and the University of Arizona, where he was an all-around athlete, playing baseball, basketball, tennis, golf and track.
Bud was married to Margarette “Marge” Williams, and they had one son, James, both of whom pre-deceased him.
Bud and Marge moved from Congress to Wickenburg in 1965.
He and Maxine Kemp were married from 1974 until her death in 2004.
Bud was elected mayor of the Town of Wickenburg on May 18, 1972.
He was in the excavation business and was a heavy equipment operator.
Bud served as a U.S. Navy Seabee, a machinist’s mate second class, during World War II, spending some of his time in the Philippine Islands.
He held a private pilot’s license.
Bud was a good friend and a true gentleman with a heart of gold.
