The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 10/06/2006 Geraldine L. Fagan, 88, longtime resident of Alpine, died Sept. 27, 2006. She was born in Gallup, N.M. to Gerald and Edna (Haug) Farmer. She graduated from Phoenix Union High School where she met her beloved husband, John J. Fagan, Jr. They dated on horseback in the north central Phoenix area before he proposed to her on top of Squaw Peak Mountain. They were married 55 years until his death in 1992. An athletic and independent child, she was the only girl on the neighborhood baseball team. She loved roller-skating, horseback riding, fishing, camping, canoeing and hot air ballooning. She was an accomplished artist and an avid gardener. At 85 years, she chased off a bear with a BB gun. Geraldine worked as a secretary for many years, but her most important job was being a loving wife and mother, who spent a great deal of high quality time with her family. Geraldine is survived by her brother, James Hagen of Payson; daughter, Jeri Kirkhuff of Queen Creek; sons, Mike of Tigard, Ore. and Patrick of Phoenix; grandsons, Clint Jones of Maricopa, Jake Fagan of La Grande, Ore.; granddaughters, Becky Craig of Crestview, Fla., Lori O' Neill of Rapid City, S.D.; and three lively great-grandchildren. Two memorial services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nutrioso Bible Church on Hwy 180 North of Nutrioso and Thursday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. at North Valley Baptist Church, 2109 E.
