The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Monday, July 5, 2010 Lillian "Lee" Cheney died June 27, 2010, at Prescott Samaritan Health Care Center, in Prescott. She was born Dec. 29, 1917, the daughter of Fritz and Lillian (Dunse) Osberg. Lee was 92 years old. Lee proudly served as a WAC in the United States Army. She was a Tech Sergeant with the Signal Corps, assigned to the Air Corps, during World War II. It was there that she met the love of her life, Alton Cheney. They celebrated 66 years of marriage on June 10, 2010. Al and Lee moved to Prescott in 1979. Lee was an active member of Prescott United Methodist Church, volunteered for Prescott Samaritan Village and was a hostess at Sharlot Hall Museum. She and Al loved living in Prescott and enjoyed nature walks with the Prescott Outings Club. If you asked any of her family or many friends, it was the warmth of her beautiful smile that endeared her to all. Lee and Al raised four sons, Bruce (Nelia) of Fallston, Md., Warren (Cheryl) of Portola, Calif. William (Donna) of Flagstaff, Ariz. and Peter, who preceded her in death. She is survived by eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and her sister Esther Watson of McKinney, Texas. She is also preceded in death by her brother Norman and grandson Andy. A celebration of Lee's life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at the Prescott United Methodist Church, 505 W. Gurley, with private inurnment in the family plot in Wisconsin.
