DOTY, John Thomas


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Friday, June 25, 2010 John Thomas Doty, 74, of Phoenix, Ariz., passed peacefully and went to be with our Lord Friday, June 18, 2010. He was born July 16, 1935, in Tucson, Ariz., to Dee Mac and Florence Ivy Doty. He graduated from Amphitheatre High School in 1954, completed his bachelor's of science in Animal Science from the University of Arizona and received a master's of science in Livestock Nutrition from Montana State University. He served in the Army Reserves during the Korean conflict. When he completed his master's, he went to work for Arizona Feeds/Eagle Milling and stayed there as a livestock nutritionist for 20 years. He married Ann Nelson on Nov. 4, 1964, and had two daughters. He founded Triad Concepts, an equine nutrition consulting and horse mineral product business. He served as the Arizona Quarter Horse Breeders Association President in the early 1980s and then served on the Arizona Quarter Horse Racing Association Board for four years. He was a loving father, avid horseman and friend to all. He will be missed dearly by all. His mother and father precede him in death. He is survived by his two daughters, Ron and Heather (Doty) Scott of Dighton, Kan., and Bart and Andrea (AJ) (Doty) Taylor of Castle Rock, Colo.; and his two sisters and their spouses, Ruth and Edwin Brown of Pinetop, Ariz., and Margaret and William H. Mundy of Amherst, Va. He is also survived by three grandsons and one granddaughter. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at Yavapai Downs on the third floor of the clubhouse in Prescott Valley, Ariz., officiated by Pastor John Shumaker.
