DRENTLAW,
Duane Waverly (Dewey)
The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona
Thursday, June 24, 2010
Duane W. Drentlaw, 88, of Oswego, Ill. (formerly of Mayer, Ariz.)
passed away on June 5, 2010. Duane "Dewey" Drentlaw was born May 24,
1922, in McIntosh, Minn.
After taking over his stepfather's farm near Bisbee, N.D., Dewey
married Jeannine Gaast of Cando, N.D., and raised a large family.
Health reasons forced him to stop farming, and he relocated his family
to Prescott, Ariz., in 1971. His long interest in photography led him
to spend many years at the Towne Camera Shoppe on Gurley Street in
Prescott before he moved to Mayer.
Dewey was a generous man who always had a smile or a joke. He was the
kind of man who always 'took in strays,' whether dogs or kids, helping
to raise many foster children as well as his own six. He will be
greatly missed.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Drentlaw and Myrtle
Olson; stepfather Hans Olson; sister Patricia Olson; wife Jeannine
(Gaast) Drentlaw; and sons James Drentlaw and Michael Drentlaw. He is
succeeded by his sister, Betty (Drentlaw) Josephson of Alexandria,
Minn.; sons Donald Drentlaw of Chino Valley, Ariz., and Jon Drentlaw of
Palm Springs, Calif.; daughters Suzanne Drentlaw of Holyoke, Mass., and
Sally Dulkinys of Oswego, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-
grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010, at the
cemetery in Mayer, Ariz.
