HAWKINS, Alice Mildred


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ April 10, 1991, p. 2 Alice Mildred Hawkins, 90, of Kansas City, Kansas died April 6 at her home in Kansas City. Mrs. Hawkins was born in Burlingame, Kansas July 2, 1900. Mrs. Hawkins was a former Wickenburg resident, who had lived in Wickenburg following her retirement from teaching with her late husband, O.H. “Mike” Hawkins. She moved back to Kansas City in 1987. Before her marriage in 1928, she was a rural school teacher, teaching all eight grades at the Kansas schools of Mullenax and Mt. Zion. She was a member of the Chelsea Park Christian Church in Kansas City, Kansas. Survivors include three daughters, Jody Chenoweth of Leavenworth, Kansas, Judy Stauffer of Buena Vista, Colorado, and Susan Ross of Kansas City, Kansas; a brother, Roy Wilson of Beagle, Kansas; three sisters, Mrs. K. L. Kemmerer and Mrs. Harry Bukhardt, both of Overland Park, Kansas and Mrs. R. F. Happe of Mission, Kansas; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Services were April 10 at the Chelsea Park Christian Church.
