Arlys Clara Horness, 82, of Wickenburg died May 8 in the Wickenburg Nursing Home.
Mrs. Horness was born August 8, 1908 in Oak Ridge, Mo. She had lived in Arizona for the past four years.
She was a 1939 graduate of cosmetology school, and in 1943 moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where she founded the Anchorage Beauty College in 1948. She operated the college until 1964.
Mrs. Horness was past president of the Anchorage Business and Professional Women.
She was active in the Baptist Church in California, and in Wickenburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, in 1980.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Lewis of Aguila, a brother, Brady Meeks; three grandchildren, Dean Lewis of Palm Springs, California, David Lewis of Waddell, and Debra Lewis of Wickenburg; and two great-grandchildren, Crystal Lewis and Jarid Lewis of Wickenburg.
Services were Monday at the First Baptist Church of Wickenburg. Pastor Delbert Henderson officiated and with burial following in the Wickenburg Cemetery.
