Robert Walker Batchelder, 87, of Wickenburg died May 31 in Wickenburg.
He was born September 17, 1903 in North Reading, Massachusetts. He had lived in Arizona for the past 21 years.
Mr. Batchelder was a graduate of Andover and Yale Universities, class of 1928. During his career he was a test pilot and engineer for aircraft companies.
He was called to active duty during World War II and worked for General “Hap” Arnold and his air staff. He was a colonel in the U.S. Army Air Corps at his separation.
Mr. Batchelder was a vice president at American Brake Shoe Co., when he retired in 1952.
His hobby had been the breeding, raising, training and showing of English Springer Spaniels, producing several champions.
He married Elizabeth Ohmeis in 1931. She preceded him in death in 1982.
He married Susan Ohmeis in 1984.
Survivors include his wife, of Wickenburg; two brothers, Edward and Ralph Batchelder; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
There were no memorial services; cremation will be conducted later in Massachusetts.
