WHITLOW, Clyde Edward


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 10/20/2006 Clyde E. Whitlow, 83, died Oct. 14, 2006 at his home in Taylor. He was born in Chicago, Ill. where his family lived until he was 10, at which time his family moved to Long Beach, Calif., then to San Francisco where he finished school. Following high school he enlisted in the Army and served during World War II, including the Battle of the Bulge, Normandy and D-Day. After the war he returned to San Francisco where he met and later married Betty Jane Zaris. They lived in Santa Barbara and San Jose where Clyde worked as a truck driver. He retired in 1987 and moved to Grass Valley, Calif. where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and hiking. Betty preceded him in death in 1998. Following Betty's passing he became reacquainted with Loretta Lopez whom he had known for many years. They were married in 2000. He and Loretta made their home in Taylor in 2001. Clyde is survived by his wife, Loretta of Taylor; two sons, Stephen H. Whitlow of Taylor and Gerald D. Whitlow of Acworth, Ga.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services are pending.
