The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 10/27/2006 Thomas B. Penny He was born May 8, 1930 in St. Louis, MO. He moved to Highland Park, Calif. as a child, went to school there and then joined the Navy. He was a medic while serving two terms in Korea. During his time in the Navy he held the title of Navy High Diving Champion for two years. After serving in the Navy, he moved around but was a truck driver for Ralph's Grocery Co. in Southern California. He moved to West Covina, Calif., where he met his wife Sharon 45 years ago. After retiring, they moved to Show Low Nov.1, 1994. Tom loved everything about Show Low from the first day he was here. Preceded him in death were his parents, Thomas and Mary Penny, and his only brother, Bill Penny. He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter Kim (John) Silvia; granddaughter, Brittney Silvia and two great-grandchildren Payge and Kaiden of Show Low; grandson, Jason Silvia of Show Low; granddaughter Kim (Jose) Luna, two great-grandchildren, Stephany and Juan of Pomona, Calif.; cousins, Nadene Weddige of Hope, N.M., Marchelle Toothfarber of Redlands, Calif., and Marlene Wood of Hemet, Calif.; aunt, Jean Davis of Hemet, Calif.; brother-in-law and wife, Bobby and May Foster of West Covina, Calif. Tom's family knows he is no longer in the terrible pain as he he was in the past couple of years. He will be missed by all his friends and family and especially his wife, Sharon. In closing this chapter of Tom's life his great-granddaughter wrote this poem: There are memories in my heart that were alway's cherished from the start I remember that you sat me on your knee and say you'll always love me.
