Stanley Smith March 1, 1928 - November 9, 2008 Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City,Arizona Published Wednesday, December 3, 2008 Stan married the love of his life, Billie June Littlefield, when he was only 17 years old. Together they built two businesses, had a family with four children, Judy (Howard) Jordan, of Lake Havasu City; Warren (Joan) Smith, of Flagstaff; Paula (Neil) Loomis, of Kingman; and Ron (Tammy) Smith, of Glendale. He enjoyed hundreds of friends and they built a home wherever they lived. Their love produced 14 grandkids, 25 great grandkids and is blessed further by nine bonus kids. He was a hard and eager worker, who took great pride in the quality of the job. He started off in the Army Air Core as a radio operator. When WWII ended he moved back to Lawton and worked various jobs until he decided to move to Flagstaff. In Flagstaff he worked for El Paso Natural Gas until he eventually purchased his own gas station. He worked the station until he sold it. He then worked as a heavy equipment operator, building roads throughout Flagstaff and New Mexico. In 1998 he and his wife, Billie, moved to Topock where they built a beautiful home on the Colorado River. Stan died holding his bride’s hand, while he lay in his bed at home. His last words were, “I Love You.” So, when you pass the big white house beside the bridge along I-40, be sure to tip your hat to the great American man, who once lived inside. He’ll be missed and never forgotten. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m., at First Southern Baptist Church. Any contributions can be made to the building fund of First Southern Baptist Church.
