From the Arizona Daily Star (August 7, 2009): GIL, Eva, our beloved Mamanina, was born on April 9, 1913 in Bacoachi, Sonora, Mex. She passed peacefully on August 4, 2009 in Tucson, AZ. Preceded in death by husband, Agustin Gil and daughter, Clementina OloƱo. She is survived by her daughter, Rita Sosa and 13 nieces and nephews including: Miguel, Rene, Hilda and Telvina Diaz. She was adored by her grandchildren, Roberto, Emilio, Maribel and Sonia, great-grandchildren, Bobby, Emilio, Javier, Marisa, Marina, Jerardo and Julian and three great-great-grandchidren. Mamanina lived her 96 years with passion, grace, humor, patience and curiosity. She gave herself completely to her loved ones and was greatly cherished and loved in return. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Sabino Canyon. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 9, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, 204 S. Stone Ave., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Monday, August 10, 2009, 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist, 600 W. Ajo Way. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.
