Rosa Morelos Gutierrez 83, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, journeyed to join Our Lord on December 7, 2006. Rosa fought a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) but died peacefully among family and friends, and in communion with the Catholic Church. Born in Lordsburg, New Mexico on May 13, 1923, she was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Rosaura Morelos; brothers, Nicolas, Jesus, David, Catarino; and sister, Erlinda Mendoza. She is survived by sons, Ricardo (Rosa Maria) Serrano, Federico Diaz; her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Rosa retired from Hughes Aircraft (Raytheon) in 1988 after many years of service. She was a very loving and caring person who will be greatly missed by many because of her thoughtfulness and consideration of those in need. She volunteered in various works of charity and was a particularly proud and devoted volunteer at St. Mary's Hospice for sixteen years up until the onset of her illness. Thanks go to all of her family and friends who assisted in her last days, and in preparing her spiritually and mentally for her new journey, especially Bishop Gerald F. Kicanas, Fr. John Williamson OCD, her caregivers, and especially her friends at St. Mary's Hospice for their loving care. It is requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Santa Cruz Parish Restoration Fund. Mass will be offered at 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 11, 2006 at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, 1220 S. 6th Ave. followed by entombment in Holy Hope Mausoleum. Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Sunday, December 10, 2006 at BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL , 236 S. Scott. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Published in the Tucson Newspapers on 12/9/2006.
