Weston Paige Butler, 71, died Oct. 17, 2008, at his home in Golden Valley from respiratory arrest. He was born Aug. 11, 1937, in Pomona, Calif., to Weston (Doc) Butler and Edna Mae Paige.
He graduated from Pomona High in 1957. He owned his father’s business Pomona Plating for a number of years. He was a car salesman for the Oldsmobile dealership in Ontario, Calif., for 10 years. After that he and Sandy Brown got back together and moved to Lake Havasu City where they were married Dec. 22, 1989. They resided here for the next 17 years.
Paige’s first job in Lake Havasu City was delivering oxygen for Henry and Betty Webster. He worked for Samaritan Hospital for seven years. He then became a bus driver and drove for Lake Havasu USD for the next two years. He then got a job as a tour guide for an airline in the Grand Canyon. He fell in love with the canyon and driving the tour bus and meeting so many people.
He and Sandy moved to Golden Valley in 2005 to get out of the Havasu heat. He began driving a school bus for the Kingman school district and then for the Headstart Program. He became Mr. Paige to all the little preschoolers which he dearly loved and who loved him.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Lake Havasu City and while living here became a member of the Eagles and Moose Lodge. His love of boat racing was one of his passions but his love for his family and friends was first. He had a wonderful sense of humor that will always be remembered.
He is survived by his spouse, Sandy Butler; his daughters, Paigene and Gayle (Steve); the mother of his children, Carol Butler, all of Las Vegas, Nev.; his son, Ted, of Phoenix; brother Dan (Bev) Butler, of Grass Valley, Calif., Babs (Stan) Bradley, Debbi English, of southern California; grandchildren, Justine, Kristin, Mathew, Ruesch, of Las Vegas, Mark Butler, of Phoenix, Christine (Rudy) Rodriguez, of Ceres, Calif., Amber Ludikhuize, of Ceres, Corey Bellinger, Andrew English, of Redlands, Calif.; and two nieces. He also considered Chris Lindsey, Bobbey Moore and Brenda Hager family. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
His memorial service was at St. John’s Methodist Chruch in Kingman on Oct. 25. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the National Lung Association to which he is registered.
