The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 11/07/2006 Rebecca C. Hunt, 83, died at home in St. Johns, Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006. She was born May 21, 1923 in St. Johns, to Luis Chavez and Chona Lucero. Rebecca was a loving wife, a wonderful mother and an amazing grandmother. She was a friend to everyone, always welcoming anyone with open arms, to her door. Her survivors include her husband, Tony G. Hunt of St. Johns; sons, Richard (Carmen) Hunt of Tempe, Abe (Dorothy) Hunt of St. Johns, Tony (Margie) Hunt of Litchfield; daughters, Terry Ballejos of St. Johns; Loretta (Richard) Bilberry of Valley Springs, Calif.; 23 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and one sister, Christina Ruiz. Preceding her in death were her parents, Luis Chavez and Chona Lucero; sister, Mattie Armijo; brothers Abram, Jose, Albert and Eddie Chavez; sons, James and Peter Hunt; and one granddaughter, Antonia Vallejos. A visitation and Rosary were held Wednesday, Nov. 1 from 6-8 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, St. Johns. Funeral Mass was held Thursday, Nov. 2 also at St. John the Baptist Church, St. Johns. Interment followed at the St. Johns Catholic cemetery. The family has asked that contributions be made to RTA Hospice 1789 W. Commerce Drive, Lakeside. Burnham Mortuary handled arrangements.
