QUERY,
Walter Henry
QUERY, Walter Henry, was born January 1, 1947, in Ware, Massachussetts. He passed away on June 7, 2010 after a prolonged illness on June 6th in Mesa, Arizona.
He grew up in rural Maine and moved to Arizona in 1960, settling in Tucson in 1967. He was an announcer and engineer at KTUC radio for 40 years, known by his air name of Ron Jacobs, as well as Mr. KNDE country in its heyday. He loved music of all kinds, but classic rock and oldies were his forte'. He built up an extensive collection of over 100 years worth of music and history, going back to Edison tubes, radio acetates, 8-tracks, cassettes, reel-to-reel tape, 33's and 45's, anything and everything to do with music and the radio. He had also done voice-over work at KVOA, engineering for KSAZ, dj-ing live dances and events, and provided six seasons of live music at the Colorado Rockies spring training games. He had a very small do-it-yourself radio station broadcast from his home in the early 80's.
He was also an avid ghost-town historian and videographer, documenting disappearing western history. He was known as the "gentle giant" who couldn't say no to a stray kitty cat.
There will be a Memorial Service held at Congregation Ner Tamid in the Masonic Hall at 1944 E. Allen St., which is just east of Campbell. It will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, 2010. Any and all are welcome. Thanks for all the friendship, love, and support. Tina Koenig Query
