Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Thursday, October 30, 2008 Randy K. Wilson, engineer L.A.F.D., passed away at his home in Lake Havasu City on Oct. 21, 2008. He was 52. He was born Sept. 4, 1956, in Glendale, Calif., to Richard E. and Edith (Edie) Wilson. He graduated in 1974 from Glendale High School in Glendale. He worked various occupations before deciding he wanted to become a firefighter in 1981. Randy was appointed to the department March 1, 1981, and retired on a disability pension June 30, 2003, from FS 74C platoon in Tujunga, Calif. Randy was untied in marriage with Gretchen K. Merrill on April 7, 1984. They had two children, Ryan C. Wilson, of Lake Havasu City and Kristin N. Wilson, of Flagstaff. The family resided in California until 1993 when they relocated to Lake Havasu City. During those years Randy commuted to L.A. until his retirement. Randy is survived by Gretchen, Ryan and Kristin Wilson; his mother, Edie Wilson; two sisters, Kathleen Cottom and Mindy (Dale) Kindelberger, of Lake Havasu City; his brother, Jeff (Shauney), of Novato, Calif.; uncles, Leroy (Myrna) Larsen, of Lake Havasu City, Don Wilson, of Molina, Calif.; aunts, Helen Schoen, of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Janice Green, of Phoenix; three nieces, three nephews and 21 cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, who passed away in April of 2005; three uncles, Lauren, Leland and Lloyd Larsen; and an aunt, Marjorie Slate. Cremation was by Lake Havasu Mortuary. A memorial service is scheduled for Nov. 29, at noon at Havasu Christian Church in Lake Havasu City.
