Today's News-Herald Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Tuesday, July 13, 2010 Ada Ann Short passed away July 11, 2010, in Lake Havasu City at the age of 78. She was born to Wesley and Carrie (Derr) Eaton on Sept. 4, 1931, in Lakin, Kan. Ada married her best friend, Winford “Ray” Short, Jan. 1, 1961, and together they made Arizona their home 38 years ago, moving to Lake Havasu City six years ago. She worked for Mountain Bell in Phoenix as an operator for 30 years. Ada was a member of First Southern Baptist Church and she loved to take care of the children at the nursery and the children were very drawn to her. Ada had a lot of friends, once a friend always a friend. She was a very loving mother, always there for her sons and daughters. Ada leaves behind her beloved husband of 49 years, Winford “Ray” Short; son, James Gregory Ralston; daughters, Kathy Struckle and Anita Arthur; three sisters, Diona Smith, Norma Ray, and Wanda Burton; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Ada was dearly loved by everyone. She was preceded in death by her son, Mike Ralston and brother, Ronald Eaton. A visitation will be Thursday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by the funeral services at 1 p.m. at First Southern Baptist Church. Leroy Smith will offer words of comfort and inspiration. Interment will be held at East Rest Haven in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ada’s name to New Hope Hospice, 500 N. Lake Havasu Ave. Ste. B106, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403.
