Kendall Elmert Woods
Kendall E. "Sim" Woods, 93, of Lakeside died Nov. 20, 2006 at his home in Lakeside.
Mr. Woods, a retired engineer, was born September 16, 1913 in Lenapah, OK. He grew up and attended school there. Following school he enlisted in the Navy and served in Guam during WWII. Following his military service, he worked for U.S. Steel as an engineer. He primarily built oil wells and was awarded an Honorary Engineering Degree by U.S. Steel. He retired from there in 1974. In 1976 he met and married Dorothy Mae Harkey who preceded him in death in 1993. Sim enjoyed hunting and fishing, and building various things.
Sim is survived by his son, Robert J. Harkey of Lakeside; daughters, Betty Lee Gilbert of Lakeside, and Diana S. Fanning of Azle, Texas; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice organization of your choice.
