Ernest Gordon Smith, 81, of Black Canyon City, a retired machinist, died Jan 30, 1989. He was born in Evenwood, W.Va., and moved to Arizona 18 years ago from Los Angeles. 

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; two sons, Gordon and Ronald; and nine grandchildren. 

Memorial services: 2pm Thursday, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, New River.
