Long-time Phoenix real estate broker, John William Block, 82, died yesterday (Dec. 3, 1964) in Phoenix Baptist Hospital.
Mr. Block, 817 N. Third St., first came to Phoenix from Warsaw, Nebraska, at the turn of the century. After moving from Phoenix to San Diego, he returned to his native Iowa in 1910 and to Phoenix in 1924. He was born in Ida Grove, Iowa. He had operated the J. W. Block Realty Co. here with his late brother, Peter Block. Mr. Block retired in 1963.
Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 231 N. Third St. Requiem Mass will be said at 8 a.m. tomorrow in the church. Burial will be in St. Francis cemetery, A. L. Moore and Sons Mortuary announced.
His wife, Helen B.; a daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Brewer, and a son, John W. Block, both of Phoenix and eight grandchildren survive.
