Wilma Irene Robinson Ralston Smith, 91, died Sept. 22, 2008. She was born June 29, 1917, in Wheeler, Texas. After her marriage to William Ralston she lived in Washington, California, Texas, and Arizona.
Wilma was a wonderful person and mother of nine. She liked to travel, cook, and bake. She loved to donate her time to PTA when her children were in school. For the American Legion, she donated her time to run bingo games. She worked in many senior citizen halls helping with activities and serving lunches. Wilma was a giver. She was always available when one of her five brothers or three sisters needed her to help take care of them. She was the last survivor of nine Robinson children. She was the next to the youngest.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin Earl and Jennie Rachel Gay Robinson; five brothers, Roy, J.O, George, Billie, and M.L. (Jack) Robinson; three sisters, Ola Mae Robinson, Eunice Howard, and Beulah Knierim; her first husband, William Ralston in 1963, and second husband, Ollie Smith in 1986.
Wilma leaves behind seven Ralston sons, William, Calvin, AC, Roy, Frank, Oran, of California; and Charlie, of Illinois; two daughters, Cleadith (Howard) Wilkerson, of Texas and Yvonne (Chuck) Nemejc, of Arizona; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
An informal celebration of her life will be in Benicia, Calif., Nov. 2, from 2-6 p.m., at the American Legion Hall, 1150 First Street, Benicia, CA. Burial will be held in San Bruno at a later time.
