The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 12/22/2006 Virginia K. Gross died Dec. 17, 2006 peacefully at home. She was born Jan. 12, 1921 in Huntington, West Virginia to Lawrence and Effie Geer. Virginia loved country gospel, was devoted to bible study, loved fishing, and taking care of others. But above all, Virginia's four children were her whole life. She is survived by her sister, Lonie Bell Mills; brother Billy Geer, both of Huntington, West Virginia; five children, Leon E. (Carmen) Smith of Green Valley, Naomi G. Roberts of Snowflake, Norma J. Smith of Louisiana and Carol Ann Smith (Thomas Jones) of Snowflake; 25 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence V. and Effie Mae Jenkins Geer, and also her son, Richard L. Smith. A memorial service was held in her honor Thursday, Dec. 21 at the Living Faith Church in Snowflake. Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor handled arrangements.
