SMITH, Judy M.

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 07/16/2010 Judy M. Smith of Show Low ended her journey to the house of our Lord May 25, 2010. Judy was born in Lubec, Maine, then lived in Akron, Ohio, finally settling in Arizona in 1959. Her journey in life was long and beautiful; she achieved many goals. She modeled in New York City and San Francisco as well as Phoenix. She had a great love for restaurant work and was the best in the field as head waitress and manager. One of her favorite hobbies was making wreaths and Christmas Balls. Growing up in Maine and having to start working in canneries at a young age to help provide money for her family, this laid her foundation to always work hard and be perfect in any way she could. Judy attended Kent State University and had a degree in Interior Design. Show Low and the White Mountains were where she loved to stay in the beginning and be with friends and as social as she wanted to. Not being a big joiner, Judy did play cards at the Senior Center and belonged to the Red Hats at K Bar. Due to bad health, Judy had to move to Chandler to help her breathing. One last goal was to come with Bill to Show Low for four days. She did that and will be remembered forever. Judy is survived by her loving husband, William "Bill" Smith of Show Low; daughter Carolyn Crocker of Chandler and stepdaughter, Diane Pereira of Huntington Long Island, N.Y. She is also survived by six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in heaven by her son, Ray D. Lyons and grandson Grady G. Barnhardt. They awaited her arrival with open arms. For the past six months, Judy was lovingly cared for by Hospice of the Valley. Her final resting place will be in Limerick, Maine with her beloved son. "We all love her and will miss her dearly. God bless her." A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 24, at the Show Low Elks Lodge, 805 E. Whipple. A reception will be held at the Elks Lodge after the service. Sign an online guest book or offer private condolences at www.blacksmortuary.com Black's Mortuary of Show Low handled arrangements.
