Bruce Lee Johnson, 81, passed away Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, in Lake Havasu City. He was born Aug. 13, 1927, in Terre Haute, Ind., to Allan and Winnie (Kelshaw) Johnson.
Bruce graduated from Otter Creek High School in 1945. Following graduation he went on to serve proudly under the direction of the United States Navy during World War II. On Oct. 18, 1951, Bruce married his beloved bride, Beverly Monkhouse and together they made Lake Havasu City their home 22 years ago from Terre Haute. He worked as a correction officer for 27 years for the US Justice Department Bureau of Prisons in Indiana.
Bruce was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, bowling and spending time with his wife and family. Bruce also enjoyed being a member of the Elks Lodge, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason of Social Lodge 86 Masonic Temple in Terre Haute, Zorah Shrine, American Legion and the Gold Seekers Club.
Bruce leaves behind his wife of almost 57 years, Beverly Johnson, of Lake Havasu City; son, Eric (Debra) Johnson, of Summerville, S.C.; daughters, Terry (Marty) Havens, of Terre Haute, Lori (Frank) Curtis, of Lake Havasu City and Toni (Jeremy) Smolka, of Salt Lake City, Utah; brother, Robert (Esther) Johnson, of Evansville, Ind.; grandchildren, Jodi, Dusty, Aaron, Candice, Greg, Erica, Mariah and Zoey and great grandchildren, Kyra, Austen, Kaitlyn, Dylan, Jessica, Kendra and Madisyn.

He was preceded in death by two children, Bruce Johnson Jr. and Stacy Kelsheimer.
A visitation will be held today from 9-11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at Lietz-Fraze Chapel.
